Post-Workout Fuel

In our last blog, we talked about why it's important to fuel your body before your workout. It's also important to fuel up after a workout. Here's why...

When you're working out, your muscles use up their glycogen stores for fuel. This results in your muscles being partially depleted by glycogen. Some of the proteins in your muscles also get broken down and damaged from the exercise.

After your workout, your body tries to rebuild its glycogen stores and repair those muscle proteins. Eating the right nutrients after you exercise can help your body get this done faster. many experts recommend eating your post-workout meal within 45 mintues.

Make sure you're getting in protein and carbs so that you can prevent muscle protein breakdown, increase muscle growth, restore glycogen stores and enhance recoery! Easily digesting foods can promote faster nutrent absorption. Some options to eat post workout are be kumara, oats, rice cakes, protein powder, eggs or chicken.

Your body needs amino acids to repair your muscles, you can get these aminos through an adequate amount of protein so that you can build new muscle tissue and get stronger! Your body also needs carbs after a wokrout so that it can help you replenish your glycogen stores.

Your nutrition plays a pivotal role in your training. To maxmize results, eat well and train hard!
