Life is for living… and here at Jetts, we’re all about balance. So after a full week of healthy eating, sweating up a storm, and daily discipline, it’s time to let loose, unbutton those jeans, and treat yourself to a “cheat meal”!
Having said that, it’s important to not think of cheat meals as “cheating”, but as feeding your soul as well as your bod.! Including treat foods that you love is so important for helping you achieve your health goals, as it actually prevents bingeing on these foods later down the line. No health kick, diet or meal plan should leave you feeling restricted or deprived from your fave foods!
So without further ado, let’s dive into some deliciously delectable treat ideas for those days when you are looking to get a little wild, and reward yourself for all your hard work…
1. Creme Brulee
This homemade Creme Brulee recipe has been making the rounds on Tik Tok and for good reason: deliciously, creamy, yet light and fluffy – it’s a richer and thicker alternative to custard - and we’re calling it - SO much better!
Even better, it’s super simple and easy to whip up, more of a set-and-forget type of recipe - we’re here for that!
2. Dark Chocolate Protein Mousse
Our Dark Chocolate Protein Mousse combines a little bit of naughty and a little bit of (extra) nice… Packing a hit of protein to keep you feeling full and satisfied, as well as some healthy fats for some nourishment, this rich and scrumptious sweet treat is just the post-dinner snack to satisfy that sweet tooth!
3. Carrot Cake
Okay, okay, we know… Carrot cake is divisive, you love it or you hate it. If you can’t stand the idea of adding sneaky veggies into your desserts, skip on ahead to number four. But if you’re like us, and truly believe carrot cake is the MVP of all things sweet, this is the recipe for you.
It’s moist (sorry to use that word, it had to be done!), light and fluffy, and the icing is seriously addictive… You’ll be making this one on repeat, we guarantee it.
For some reason, pasta gets a bad rap when it comes to the verdict of healthy or not. While pasta absolutely has a place in a healthy diet, this recipe in particular is super creamy, indulgent, and oh so moreish. After Gigi brought vodka pasta to centre stage, you’ll want to try this one for yourself to understand what all the hype is about/
Ricotta hotcakes are a tried and tested crowd-pleaser, so we simply had to include these on the list. Whether you’re vibing a sweet breakfast, or prefer to whip these up for dessert, they’re surprisingly nutritious as well as delicious… High in healthy fats and calcium, you’d be forgiven for claiming these are a healthy option to enjoy daily!
6. Brookies
If you haven’t yet been introduced to Brookies, prepare for your world to be turned upside down… Torn between choc chip cookies and brownies for your “cheat meal”?
Porque no los dos? (Why not have both?!)
Brookies combine the best of both worlds, and this recipe from Betty Crocker - the queen of baking herself - is one to be reckoned with. Thank us later…
7. Burgers
Juicy, cheesy, oozing burgers… There are few things better! Especially when we’re talking a Jamie Oliver spin on the classic. These “Cracking Burgers” are packed with all the things that make burgers brilliant - add in a side of fries, and you’ve got the perfect cheat meal ready to go.
Vegetarian? No prob. Simply swap out the beef mince for a veggie mince from the supermarket, or you can even buy some damn delicious veggie patties these days too!
8. Donna Hay’s baked red chicken curry
Some may not consider a curry to be a “cheat meal”, but for others there’s nothing more satisfying or comforting than a good, classic curry. Chef extraordinaire Donna Hay has developed one for the ages here, a nourishing, satisfying, creamy classic you’ll go back to time and time again.
9. Peanut Butter Stuffed Cookies
Another one of the latest trends on the block, nut butter-stuffed cookies are the thing of the moment… and we’re willing to bet they’ll stick around for a long time to come! With all the goodness of a delicious regular cookie, plus some added PB stuffed in the centre (because PB makes everything better, right?), prepare for some serious ooze, and a whole lotta deliciousness...
Who needs KFC… We’re willing to bet this recipe may just trump the classic fried chicken you know and love. It’s quick and easy, and oh so crunchy - the best fried chicken we’ve ever tasted! Pair it with some sneaky mayo, and you’ve got yourself the perfect treat!
