12 Ways To Make Working Out Fun Again

12 Ways To Make Working Out Fun Again

Do you find that you lose motivation or get bored of going to the gym pretty easily? When it comes to staying on track with your fitness journey, variety really is the key to success! So here are 12 ways you can make working out fun again!

Get running with treadmill intervals

Short sprints are so much more motivating than a daunting 5k run (sans breaks). Treadmill intervals are a great way to raise your heart rate, put your cardio fitness to the test and try some HIIT training on the treadmill. Get into the fat burning zone and get your metabolism firing by running for 30 seconds and resting for 30 seconds for a series of 8 to 10 sets.

Try Foam Rolling

Head into the functional training zone at Jetts and spend some time on the foam roller. This is a great way to reduce muscle inflammation post workout to avoid that sore muscle feeling.

Give booty bands a burl

If you’ve got #bootygoals you want to smash then booty bands are your new best friend. Adding resistance to common exercises like squats and lunges is an ultimate glute activator. Disclaimer: you’re guaranteed to feel the burn mid-workout and likely to have some muscle soreness the next day.

Get a Personal Trainer

If you’re looking to kick your fitness into high gear, our passionate personal trainers are on hand to help customise an exercise and nutrition plan for you that will help you smash your goals!

Keep on swimming

Never underestimate the power of low impact resistance training. Swimming is a great way to mix up your workout routine during the summer months, and even better if you live near the ocean! If you’re wanting to improve joint mobility or are recovering from injury,

Skip your way to a fun workout

Unleash your inner child and try a few rounds of skipping. You’ll be improving your coordination, boosting cardiovascular fitness and improving bone density while burning calories.

Combine nature and exercise

Remember active recovery is just as important as activity. Why not seek out a nearby hike or rent a kayak and do something different? Your mind and body will thank you for it.

Bring a friend to train with you

We all love a bit of healthy competition, plus friends who workout together smash their fitness goals together!

Take your workout to the next level

If you’ve had the same exercise routine for a while (and by a while, we mean more than 2 weeks), then it’s time to turn up the intensity. Add some weights to your squats and some jumps to your lunges.

Treat yourself to some new activewear

Nothing motivates you to hit the gym more than some fresh new activewear. Treat yourself!

‘Edusize’ with a podcast

Combine education and exercise while you’re on the treadmill and plug into a podcast about something you’re interested in. You’ll be working on your fitness and accumulating interesting facts to share with your friends, it’s a win-win situation.

Get social

Why not introduce yourself to someone you regularly see at that gym. We always have room for more friends, so you never know. Your new BFF could be on the treadmill right next to you!

Ultimately, just remember that there are many ways to make working out fun again, and that’s exactly what it should be - FUN! Start your fitness journey with a FREE 3 class pass at Jetts NZ.
