Start with jogging

Whether you’re trying to make running part of your routine for the first time or just getting back into things, it’s important to ease into it. Start off by jogging for one minute, followed by one minute of walking. This is going to help you avoid injury and prevent overly sore post-workout muscles. Studies have shown that listening to music while running can result in a significantly faster mean running speed in comparison to no music. So, get the tunes pumping. If you’re off for a jog to unwind then it might be a good idea to opt for a calming playlist or informative podcast. On the other hand, if you want to smash your last PB and take your run time to a new level, go for something upbeat that will hype you up. 

Run with friends

Nothing keeps you motivated like a friend. Starting a run club within your circle of friends, at work or in the gym can really help you to stay consistent and enjoy running. 

Mix up your route 

Running along the same path day in, day out is bound to become tedious. Mix it up by exploring a new running track on the weekend, running through your local national park or even driving to the coast (if it’s possible) for a seaside run.
